Repair and Installation of a new footbridge and stile

Project funding

The cost of the work, which was carried out by our Contractor, was £5450, and was funded by the Council. The work included the removal of the rotten wood and replacing it with new stile and footbridge with hand rail and textured boarding over the drainage ditch, together with re-stoning and consolidation of the water damaged footpath.

Community involvement

Work to replace a stile and the footbridge with handrail was completed by the Rights of Way Team in December 2022. Concerns had been raised by the local residents and users about the deterioration of the wooden furniture which crossed a drainage ditch.

Why the project was implemented

The route is an important and well used rural link providing an extended walk through the countryside. The stile and footbridge had both suffered from weathering causing the wood to rot over the years.

Testimonials/Comments
