Apprenticeship case studies

A portrait picture of Katie Bradley, an apprentice with Telford & Wrekin Council.

Katie is a Policy and Development Apprentice and is studying towards a level three qualification in business administration.

What attracted you to an apprenticeship with Telford & Wrekin Council?

I wanted to learn more about how the work the council does impacts on residents of the borough and how I can contribute.

Where are you hoping your apprenticeship will take you?

I am hoping that my apprenticeship will allow me to further my career options and eventually help me to find a full time position where I could continue to do work that I enjoy.

What are your future career aspirations?

I would like to continue working in business support/admin and possibly continue working within the council. I would also want to look at furthering my qualifications and possibly complete another apprenticeship in the future.

What are the benefits of apprenticeships?

I think that being able to gain a qualification while also gaining experience and workplace skills is a major advantage of an apprenticeship.

What would you say to someone considering an apprenticeship?

They are a great opportunity to gain and develop the skills required in the workplace and gain a qualification. It’s worth looking into if you think that you would struggle in full-time education as even though you still have learning to do, it isn’t full-time in a classroom.
