Staff car parking
2022 update
The staff parking arrangements described below are currently suspended following changes to working practices following the pandemic. As working patterns evolve, this decision will be reviewed and the following information updated.
The current parking permit process has been reviewed for employees of Addenbrooke and Darby House and will be implemented from early 2019. This will require all staff to apply for a new parking permit on a new online system before all existing staff permits will cease to be in force in early 2019.
New permits will be paper permits but supplied with a self-adhesive screen holder to display in the front windscreen of the vehicle. These permits will be linked to up to two registration numbers, and are not valid for use in any other vehicle.
As part of this process, staff will be required to review and accept terms and conditions relating to the use of staff parking permits. Failure to comply with these terms and conditions may result in parking fines being issued, the removal of your parking pass and/or disciplinary action.
The new system will be rolled out over approximately three months, and when your area is programmed for deployment your SDM will be contacted with more information on how to apply.
As part of this new system, there will not be any changes to the current eligibility criteria for parking in the Council’s town centre car parks. However, SMT wish to review the system and the permit operation after a period of time to assess the effectiveness of the scheme with improved information, so it is possible there may be further eligibility changes in the future.
Criteria for car park passes
- New staff who never or infrequently (once a month or less) use their car for work travel or who are based at Southwater or Telford Ice Rink will continue to be given passes for the Southwater car park only.
- Current purple pass holders, staff who never or infrequently (once a month or less) use their car for work travel, will retain their Southwater pass and will also continue to be able to park in Hall Court car park (areas A and B only). Staff are encouraged to use Southwater rather than Hall Court where possible.
- Staff who use their cars more than once a month for work travel will continue to have passes for Darby House, Addenbrooke House and Hall Court (areas A and B only).
A reminder that Southwater is well lit, has CCTV and being undercover will protect cars from frost over the winter. The route from Southwater Car Park to Darby House or Addenbrooke House can be accessed through the Shopping Centre during the hours of 8.30am - 6.30pm which is also well lit and largely weather protected.
Permit holders are reminded that the transfer of permits, and the removal of a permit to park in a visitor’s space is not permitted. These practices will be monitored and any relevant action taken.
