Applying for a school place

• a place at the start of primary school (Reception year)

• transferring from infant to junior school (Year 2 to Year 3) or

• starting secondary school (Year 7).

Application closing dates for applying for a school place are below:

If a child has an Education, Health and Care Plan (EHCP) the application closing date is 31 October 2026 for admission into primary, junior and secondary school.

You are strongly advised to apply to four local schools including your nearest or catchment area school. You can use our Catchment Area School Finder Tool to check which schools are your nearest or catchment area schools.

If you have recently moved to Telford and Wrekin and need to apply for a school place or want to transfer your child to a school in the borough outside of the normal entry points at the start of primary or secondary school, please view the in-year admissions webpage for more information.
