Telford Bike Hub run a number of exciting cycling activities throughout the year

Telford & Wrekin Council is inviting local residents to join them for a summer of cycling, offering a packed schedule of free biking activities for adults and children. There will be more than 70 free sessions running throughout July and August, including led rides through the Town Park and to Coalport, ‘learn to ride’ sessions for adults and children, and cycle maintenance workshops. The sessions all free of charge, with bikes and helmets provided. All activities run from Telford Bike Hub next to the Visitor Centre in Telford Town Park, and each activity has multiple date/time slots, with something to fit even the busiest schedule.

All sessions can be booked for free at Telford Bike Hub’s Eventbrite webpage.

Please note: your booking is not secured until you have paid for your session/s online. Once you have placed a booking via the online system you will be emailed a link to make the payment. Please check your 'junk' mail if you have not received this. Alternatively please pay for cycling activities online.

Learn to Ride Bikeability - group session

Venue: Telford Bike Hub, Telford Town Park, next to the Visitor Centre
Age: 4 - 14 years
Price: £7 per child per 1 hour session (Price includes bike and helmet hire if required)

It's time to say goodbye to stabilisers. The Learn to Ride sessions are here to help! During the session children will learn skills and techniques to help them improve balance and co-ordination. Parents must stay for the session and it's a great opportunity to get some extra tips and guidance to support your child in learning to ride. 

On average children can require 3 sessions to master the art of riding.

Town Park Ride

Venue: Telford Bike Hub, Telford Town Park, next to the Visitor Centre
Age: children must be aged 7 or over and be able to ride approximately 5 miles without stabilisers.
Price: £7 per child (price includes bike and helmet hire if required)

The ride sets off from the Town Park Visitor Centre and trails along the many paths around the park. All trails are off road on cycle friendly paths. Riders get to safely explore the park and discover many fascinating facts about the park's history and its surroundings. Parents/Guardians are not required to stay but are welcome to join us if you wish.

Bikeability Family

Venue: Telford Bike Hub, Telford Town Park, next to the Visitor Centre
Dates and times: arranged between family and instructor. This training is formed of two sessions usually 1 hour each.
Age: session one is off road and children must be aged 7 and over. Session two consists of on road training and children must be aged 9 or over for taking part in this session. 
Price: £10 per family 

Complete the online form to book Bikeability Family 

These sessions are to ensure children and their family are confident and competent at Bikeability Level 2. Many children complete Bikeability Level 2 in year 6 but if they have missed out at school this could be the perfect opportunity for the child and an adult to get up to speed with the nationally recognised Bikeability which covers how to cycle safely on our roads. A minimum of 1 adult and 1 child per family.

1 to 1 Cycle Training / Learn to Ride

Venue: to be determined by the rider
Dates and times: arranged between rider and instructor. Sessions are 1 hour.
Age: 12+
Price: £20 per session

During Summer of Cycling our 1 to 1 will be on hold. These will recommence in September.

Suitable for children and adults. The instructor will discuss your aims and ambitions and develop a training programme specific to you. Whether you are new to riding and wishing to learn or you can already ride and want to brush up on your skills, confidence and road knowledge these sessions will accommodate your individual needs.

Our instructors are nationally qualified, DBS checked and first aid trained. We only use instructors who understand the various needs of individuals.

Bikeability Level 1

Venue: Telford Bike Hub, Telford Town Park, next to the Visitor Centre
Age: 7+
Price: £7 per child

We can also run bespoke courses for organised groups, please contact us to discuss.

Bikeability is today's cycle training programme. It's like cycling proficiency, but better! Through a series of fun games and challenges riders learn to control and master their bikes. Bikeability Level 1 is a highly practical session and open to children over 7 years old who can ride without stabilisers.

Parents/Guardians are not required to stay for this session.
