All Age Carers Partnership Board
A young carer’s voice at the Carers Partnership Board
A young carer attended the Carers Partnership Board (CPB) meeting to share their lived experience and highlight some of the challenges they face in their caring role.
As the primary carer for their mother, the young carer spoke openly about the impact of transport difficulties, particularly when their mother is unwell and unable to drive. Simple tasks like collecting prescriptions or going to the shop often became stressful and difficult to manage.
During the meeting, the young carer raised the idea of having access to a bus pass to support them with these responsibilities. Following this, the All-Age Carers Centre secured bus passes to help them both with caring duties and with accessing respite opportunities.
The young carer fed back that they felt genuinely listened to at the CPB and described the experience as positive and empowering. They have also asked to attend future meetings, showing just how valuable young carers’ voices are in shaping support and services.

Carers provide significant support to the people they care for, enabling people to live within their own communities for longer. Our vision and priorities for the All Age Carers Strategy is to work together so that as many carers as possible are informed, involved, valued and receive timely and appropriate support when needed
The All Age Carers Partnership Board is here to make sure we address local issues and strengthen social and voluntary services to work to implement the strategy and drive forward the actions
The Partnership Board will be made up of carers, experts by their experience that access services, and the various partnership organisations that help shape and deliver services to carers and/or the people they care for

The Board will:
- Continue to monitor and drive the developments of the strategy for the next 5 years through a comprehensive live action plan.
- Be involved, influence, collaborate and co-produce the offer for all age carers.
The Board meets every quarter and is chaired by an Expert by Experience. (.pdf Size: 183Kb)
