We encourage residents to minimise their waste and instead look at ways to repair or reuse items e.g. using a local charity repair cafe or collection by a charity organisation. The new charges are aimed at encouraging waste minimisation and a need to bridge the funding gap. The council regularly reviews charges to ensure costs are recovered while working hard to support those in need. Although prices have increased, there is still a 25% discount available for those who are eligible, for more information about the current charges, please visit our bulky items collections webpage.
