Transitional Relief
Revaluations are carried out every three years in England and Wales to reflect changes in the property market. The most recent revaluation takes effect from 1st April 2026.
Transitional relief limits how much your bill can change as a result of a business rates revaluation. This depends on your rateable value and whether your bill is increasing or decreasing. Transitional relief stops when you reach the full amount set by the revaluation.
The limits set for the April 2026 revaluation are as follows:

Transitional Relief Supplement:
If you do not qualify for transitional relief and Supporting Small Business Relief, you will be subject to a 1p supplement. This is to partially fund transitional relief.
