Junior school admissions

Attention - school admissions and school appeals

Due to the current COVID-19 situation and with the closure of schools we envisage a serious delay to any in-year applications for school places.

This means we are not accepting any in year applications at this time due to the schools being closed.

We recognise that our service is important to you and appreciate your patience and understanding during this time.

Applications for children starting primary school or moving to a secondary or junior school in September are currently unaffected.

We will contact you as soon as we have any further information.

If you are moving into the Borough and you fall into the category of vulnerable learner or key worker and may require assistance regarding a school place in terms of child care please email admissions@telford.gov.uk.

Please note that, having regard to the Government's decision to close schools (except for looking after the children of keyworkers and vulnerable children), all admission appeals have been postponed until such time that further guidance is received from government or that schools fully re-open.

Please contact legal and democratic email if you wish to receive further advice Democratic.Services@telford.gov.uk.

If your child is in Year 2 and attending an infant school you will need to apply for a place at a Junior School or Primary School (in Year 3) for the 2020/21 academic year starting in September 2020.

You can apply online for a Junior School place. If you do not have access to a computer you can go to your local library and ask a member of staff to help you submit an application.

The closing date for an on time application was 15 January 2020. All applications received after this date will not be considered until after the national offer date of 16 April 2020. Late applications will be looked at in the second allocation round.

To make a late application please use the following online form:

If a school has fewer places than applicants then priority is given to children who have attended the linked infant/junior school.

Further information about the process is available in our School Admissions Information Booklet 2020/21.
