Telford & Wrekin Council along with a range of local partner organisations and involved residents have launched an Ageing Well consultation. The most recent census data tells us that
In 2032, there are projected to be around 42,300 adults aged over 65 plus living in Telford and Wrekin, an increase of around 30% on the 2021 population.
Living longer bring opportunities, not only for older people and their families but also for society as a whole. However the extent of these opportunities this depends heavily on one factor; good health. If people can experience extra years of life in good health and live in a supportive environment, the ability to do the things they value will be little different from that of a younger person.
The aspiration is to create a vision and plan for the future, where older people live well for longer.
We need your views to shape how advice, information, services and support for people is provided in Telford and Wrekin in the future. We will use these views to help improve the lives and opportunities for our borough’s people and their families, as they grow older.
‘Old age is like everything else. To make a success of it, you’ve got to start young’ Theodore Roosevelt.
