All Age Carers

Telford and Wrekin's population has grown significantly over the past decade, with increasing diversity and an ageing demographic.

1 in 10 of the borough’s population reported that they were providing unpaid care in 2021, a higher proportion than the national and regional averages.

A carer is someone of any age who provides unpaid support to a family member or a friend, who would not manage without their support.

Carers continue to play a crucial role in the social care system by providing essential support to their loved ones. It's essential that we continue to collaborate with partners and local organisations to ensure effective support for carers.

As such, we need a strategy that identifies areas important to carers, ensuring resources are used where carers of all ages need them the most.

A draft All Age Carers Strategy has been developed, following a pre-consultation engagement with carers, professionals, organisations and groups across the borough.
