Animal Welfare Licensing

Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018

The follow activities are licensable under the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018. Visit the legislation.gov.uk website for more information about the Animal Welfare (Licensing of Activities Involving Animals) (England) Regulations 2018.

  • selling animals as pets
  • providing or arranging for the provision of boarding for cats or dogs
  • hiring out horses
  • breeding dogs
  • keeping or training animals for exhibition.

Guidance from DEFRA

The Department for Food, Environment and Rural Affairs (DEFRA) has now published procedural guidance for local authorities in relation to the new regulations, along with guidance notes on the conditions that will apply to licences issued to authorise the different licensable activities. Completed application forms should be submitted with supporting documentation by email to licensing@telford.gov.uk or by post to Public Protection, Telford & Wrekin Council, Darby House, Lawn Central, Telford, TF3 4JA. Visit the Council's eStore to make a payment.
