Unfortunately, we are currently experiencing some technical issues our ATP, we are working with our supplier to resolve the issues with aim of restoring service ASAP.

Training and Continuing Professional Development (CPD)

Online Personal Education Plan (PEP) refresher / new to role training

As a Virtual School we offer the following CPD for new and existing Designated Teachers that will cover the following areas:

  • accessing and completing the online PEP - step by step presentation - this is also for education providers that use our paper based PEP
  • support with the writing of SMART target
  • Pupil Premium Grant (PPG) spend and guidance
  • the PEP quality assurance form and non negotiables
  • SDQ (Strengths and Difficulties Questionnaire) completed annually every spring term
  • Arts and Culture entitlement - new requirement from September 2021.

The sessions and training are for all school staff / Designated Pracxtitioners in Early Years settings that lead and complete the online PEPs for your children in care as well as Designated Teachers.

The next available dates for academic year 2023 - 2024 are:

  • Monday 22 April 2024 - 4pm - 5.30pm
  • Tuesday 23 April 2024 - 9.30am - 11am.

Designated Teacher (DTs) Termly Network meetings and Nominated Governor Network meetings

The network meetings are open to all DTs, whether from a primary or secondary, mainstream or special school, or from a Pupil Referral Unit (PRU). DTs are also welcome to sign up their governor for Children in Care (CiC) and post-LAC to attend the Nominated Governor Network meetings.

The network meetings provide ongoing support with the Personal Education Plan (PEP), further updates on statutory duties and a forum for professional discussions and sharing of effective practice with regards to improving outcomes for CiC.

Date:

  • Wednesday 28 February 2024 - 3.30pm - 5pm.

Both sessions will be held remotely using Microsoft teams. The invite and link will be sent once your booking is confirmed.

Newly Appointed Designated Safeguarding Leads' Training (2 days)

Course Tutor: Education Safeguarding Team

Target Audience: Staff in schools and post 16 establishments newly appointed to the role of Designated Safeguarding Lead (cross phase)

Course Content This course enables all those who are newly appointed Designated Safeguarding Leads to fulfil their role and understand their responsibilities and the statutory requirements. Key Outcomes Delegates will:

  • meet the requirements (paragraph 64) of ‘Keeping Children Safe in Education’
  • develop an overview of the local safeguarding partnership arrangements
  • understand how to support staff and liaise with other services
  • know how to respond to safeguarding concerns
  • develop an awareness of local child protection procedures
  • understand how to manage child protection records safely
  • raise awareness of wider and contextual safeguarding issues
  • understand training requirements.

Dates:

  • Part 1: Wednesday 27 September 2023
  • Part 2: Thursday 28 September 2023
  • Part 1: Wednesday 24 January 2024
  • Part 2: Thursday 25 January 2024
  • Part 1: Wednesday 1 May 2024
  • Part 2: Thursday 2 May 2024.

Each session will be from 9.15am to 4pm.
