The Making It Real Board help to develop the future of Adult Social Care
How does the Making It Real Board Work?
Our Making It Real Board was set up in January 2018 and is made up of people who use adult services or who are interested in the development of Adult Social Care in Telford and Wrekin. Discover more about the role of a Making It Real Board Members.
The Board works in co-production with council leaders, making recommendations on how different service areas can improve and develop, with the aim of seeing services progress towards more person-centred, community-based support.

Changes to the Making It Real Board (MIRB)
The Making It Real Board has changed to help focus more on planning and doing more co-production work.
New meeting format:
• Making It Real Board meetings will happen 4 times a year (every 3 months).
• Each meeting will last 2 hours.
• The meetings will still be co-chaired by:
○ Sarah Roberts (Expert by Experience)
○ Councillor Kelly Middleton
• This meeting is currently membership only, membership is currently set for a period of 2 years.
If you are interested in getting involved with the Making It Real Board, please take a look at the role description and complete the Expression of Interest form and we will contact you when we are recruiting new members or if we have any other opportunities that you may be interested in.
What the meetings will talk about:
• Sharing news and updates from other adult social care related partnership board and groups.
• Working together across different boards to avoid doing the same work twice.
• Listening to feedback from people who use services (gathered from our feedback forms, complaints, compliments, comments).
• Working together to improve adult social care services and come up with new ideas and solutions.
Please note: the Making It Real Board does not make decisions for about or for the partnership boards these are aligned with dedicated strategies and action plans.
New Making it Happen Meetings and Subgroups
These will be new themed meetings that will happen monthly around the quarterly Making It Real Board meetings.
If you are interested in being part of the Making It Happen subgroup meetings, please complete the Expression of Interest form and we will contact you when we are looking to recruit new members or if we have any new opportunities that may be of interested.
What these meetings will do:
• Focus on co-production work across adult social care.
• Make sure work is not repeated in different groups.
• Help move ideas forward and take action.
Why these changes were made:
• To make sure feedback leads to action where appropriate.
• To have clearer decision-making in the right places.
• To be more proactive (planning ahead) not just reactive.
• To save time and avoid repeating work.
