Public Space Protection Orders (PSPOs) are designed to stop individuals or groups committing anti-social behaviour in a public space.

The Council issues PSPOs, however, we must consult with the Police, Police and Crime Commissioner and with the wider public as part of this process.

The behaviours must be:

  • behaving or likely to have a detrimental effect on the quality of those living in that locality
  • persistent or continuing
  • unreasonable.

Restrictions and requirements will be set out by the Council and can be enforced by both Council and Police Officers

The breach of a PSPO is a criminal offence and a fixed Penalty notice of £100 can be issued and a fine at level three on prosecution.
