Description: Dumping tree waste is an act of fly-tipping which we take just as seriously as any other type of waste. That’s why we didn’t hesitate to prosecute the person responsible for tipping a large amount of conifer branches in the middle of this lane causing a danger to others. Location: H5 Barber shop in New Street, Wellington, Telford
Description: Just look at the waste piled up outside this barber shop. We had complaints from the public that it was attracting rats which was unpleasant for residents and other businesses. We investigated and told the owner to provide evidence of how they were disposing of their waste, including sharp waste which could be harmful to people. Location: Hurleybrook Way, Leegomery
Description: This fly-tipper was caught on camera dumping a washing machine. We traced him and issued a fixed penalty notice for £1,000 which he has paid. The case shows the council continues to prioritise tackling fly-tipping of any kind and will not hesitate to fine or prosecute people where there is evidence. The fine could have been avoided by taking the appliance to either of our Household Recycling Centres which are free to use or booking a bulky waste collection which is free or discounted for eligible residents.
