What is the Green Guarantee?

Telford & Wrekin Council has committed to protecting over 300 green spaces in the Borough under its Green Guarantee.

The Green Guarantee protects areas of Council land from any future development, along with

  • Local Nature Reserves (LNR)

  • Sites of Special Scientific Interest

  • Fields in Trust sites and

  • Village Greens which are already protected.

The Green Guarantee was a commitment in the Telford & Wrekin Local Plan.

Water safety

We want everyone to be safe when visiting our sites that have water features within them.

We work closely with the Royal Life Saving Society (RLSS) on managing water safety on our sites, visit the RLSS website for more information and advice about water safety.

Staying safe around water is important. If you're visiting these sites, keep these safety tips in mind:

  • keep out of the water at all times

  • never allow children to play near the water unless accompanied by an adult

  • don't run near the water, you may trip and fall in

  • learn how to help in an emergency; if you see someone in trouble in the water never jump in yourself. Stay calm and phone for help. Some sites across the Borough have water safety sites and equipment, please only use the equipment when required.

Visit the RLSS website for information on how to rescue a person from drowning
