Major developments are required to include green and blue infrastructure that enhances the natural environment and contributes to a greener, healthier borough. This requirement is set out in Policy NE4 (Greening Factor) of the Telford and Wrekin Local Plan 2020 – 2040.

The Development Greening Factor helps measure how effectively a development incorporates features such as trees, planting, sustainable drainage, water features and wildlife habitats.

Developers must submit a greening factor calculation to demonstrate compliance with the Policy NE4.

This approach helps improve biodiversity, climate resilience and the overall quality of the built environment.
