A family fun day organised by Telford & Wrekin Council's disabled children's team will be graced by two international sports stars that have won gold medals at their respective events. The free event on Saturday July 4 - titled Ican2 - will be opened by Olympic javelin thrower Tessa Sanderson and closed by Paralympian star Debbie Brennan. It will take place at Telford International Centre and is aimed at disabled children and those with additional needs.




What's new in the council

The action packed alternative sports event, 'Urban Games', takes place on Sunday 5 July at Leegomery BMX Multi Use Games Area and Skate Park from 11am to 9pm. Residents of all ages are encouraged to come and join in this FREE event.



Consultation on licensing policy
Residents across Telford and Wrekin are encouraged to have their say on licensing as part of a consultation which starts on 29 June. The Council is consulting people on the Statement of Licensing Policy which is issued under the Licensing Act 2003.



Catch It. Bin It. Kill It.
In view of the current situation with swine flu the way to protect yourself is to follow good hygiene practices. A health campaign has been launched today warning people about swine flu with the simple message: CATCH IT. BIN IT. KILL IT. Credit Crunch help and advice that's convenient to you
Telford & Wrekin Council and its partners are working hard to support local people through the economic downturn. As part of our plan to beat the Credit Crunch, we've opened a new advice centre providing a range of advice and support in these challenging financial times. First Point is located inside Telford Library, in Southwater Square (opposite Spencer's Mall).

Telford & Wrekin Council and Shropshire Chamber of Commerce are committed to consulting with and listening to local businesses to help plan for the future and ensuring businesses have the support they need in this difficult economic climate.
