Planning
Our Planners play a vital role in shaping the future of Telford. They work proactively and collaboratively with a broad range of stakeholders to champion sustainable growth and deliver exceptional planning outcomes.
Together with our experienced team of Technical Specialists based also in Development Management, our Planners form the core of a dynamic team tackling a diverse portfolio of projects—each one making a meaningful impact on the lives of our residents, businesses, and visitors. From initial concept through to completion, our responsive team of Planners and consultees work seamlessly together to achieve outstanding results.
Our projects span both urban and rural regeneration and cover a wide variety of applications, including large-scale residential and commercial developments, as well as retail and agricultural schemes.
In 2024, Telford and Wrekin’s Planning team were officially shortlisted and received a Special Commendation for an RTPI Award for Planning Excellence, for the Excellence in Planning for Communities (Large schemes of 50 houses or more) category. The project brought to life the revitalisation of the former Allscott sugar beet factory site (64 acres of brownfield site). It delivered 470 homes, a primary school, retail units, enhanced community/ sports facilities and green walking routes.
It was noted by the RTPI that the success of this development was as a result of robust community consultation and incorporation of local feedback into the scheme, taking into account sensitivity to the site’s semi-rural location, heritage and integration with new and existing residents alongside strong collaboration between the Planners and the Developers.
In addition to driving new development, we also address the challenges of Planning Enforcement. With the support of our dedicated in house Solicitors—who also manage S106 agreements and assist with Planning Appeals—we ensure robust and effective delivery across all areas of planning.
A career in Planning at Telford guarantees variety and momentum. No two days are the same, and the work is both stimulating and rewarding—offering fantastic opportunities for professional growth, development, and long term success.
