Hi, my name is Leona. I’m a Care Experienced young person and an Apprentice.
In my role, I focus on participation which means making sure we truly engage with young people, hear their voices, and listen to what you want and need. Your voice matters most.
As a Care Experienced young person myself, I know that negative thoughts can creep in and things can sometimes feel confusing or overwhelming.
That’s why the Local Offer is so important. It’s a clear guide to the support and services you can expect from Telford and Wrekin Council. It’s there to show you that you’re not on your own.
The Local Offer helps cut through confusion and gives you a better understanding of the help available to you as you move toward independence. It includes pledges and support, designed to make your journey into adulthood less scary, more fulfilling, and full of opportunities. You can find advice on staying safe, finding suitable accommodation, and getting into work, education, or training. Overall, the aim is to help you grow, learn, aspire, and achieve with the support you deserve.
I’d like to personally invite you to the Leavers Lounge at Meeting Point House. It’s a friendly, informal space where you can:

  • get support;
  • take part in different activities; and
  • meet other Care Experienced young people, including me and the other apprentices


The Leavers Come First Forum is ran here often, which is for Care Experienced young people aged 16–21 (or up to 25 if needed). It’s a place where we share experiences, socialise, and get involved in activities and projects that help shape the services that support us. Your voice can make a real difference. Come join our forum, chat with other young people, and–yes–eat as many biscuits as you like!
I’ve run pamper sessions at the Lounge to promote wellbeing, and there are always lots of other activities happening. We’d love for you to come along and be part of it.
