Resurfacing Schemes

As part of the Council’s 4 year investment programme to ‘Protect, Care and Invest to create a better borough’. Between 2020 and 2024 over £50m is being invested to keep neighbourhoods safe, clean and well connected. The ‘Pride in our Community’ Highways Capital Programme will deliver improvements to infrastructure including roads, footpaths, parking, sustainable transport, street furniture, drains and structures.

Our highways vision is to ‘Keep Telford Moving’ and in 2021/2022 we will invest £21.6m to deliver over 160 improvement schemes across the borough.

Road Maintenance: Surface Treatment Schemes

A programme of Surface Treatment is due to commence on various sites (see Resident Letter for a list of sites with forecasted dates) on 10 May 2021 between the hours of 7.30am and 6pm. The works are a two stage process requiring two applications. This means that Contractors and Traffic Management will visit each site twice, please refer to the Resident Letter for programme dates. The work is, however, weather dependant and the programme dates shown may be subject to change:

The funding for the work has come from the Council’s highway capital programme as part of its ‘Pride in Our Community’ programme to make the borough a better place to live, work and visit.

The Project is being delivered by our principal contractor Balfour Beatty with sub-contractors for Surface Dressing (RMS) and lining (WJ UK).

Detailed Works Programme

  • The works will be managed under Stop and Go / Convoy working. This means that access through sites will be mostly maintained, apart from short periods where the material must harden.
  • Residents and businesses directly affected will receive an information leaflet and resident letter 24/48 hours prior to contractors arriving on site.
  • Advanced information signs will be placed on each site 2 weeks prior to works commencing.
