The Mayor, Cllr Amrik Jhawar has decided to support Telford Crisis Support and the Midlands Air Ambulance as his chosen charities for 2021/2022.
Telford Crisis Support
Telford Crisis Support was formed in 2013 and received charitable status in 2015. Over the last year, they have provided approximately 100,000 meals for individuals and families in the local community. From their experiences whilst operating the foodbank, they identified a further specialised need for local families with babies and toddlers; Telford and Wrekin Baby and Toddler Bank was launched in January 2020. Both Foodbank and Baby Bank operate from the hub in Sutton Hill, where they distribute and deliver across the Borough of Telford and Wrekin. Their shared mission is: “No one in the Borough of Telford and Wrekin should need to go without the basic essentials to keep themselves and their families sheltered, fed, clean, clothed, warm and healthy.”
Midlands Air Ambulance
Midlands Air Ambulance Charity started in 1991 and since then, they have undertaken more than 63,000 missions via one of their three air ambulances, or two critical care cars, making the organisation one of the busiest pre-hospital air ambulance-led services in the UK. Their mission is to provide patients with outstanding pre-hospital care and lifesaving intervention at the incident scene, before conveying them to the most appropriate hospital for their individual needs, giving them the best possible chance of survival and recovery.
