Our role in business advice is to enable local businesses to comply with current trading and commercial law.
The Business Companion website is the national one stop website for all trading standards business (retail based) related information. The website provides 'in-depth guides' that will cover many of the questions you have. You can keep up to date with all the latest regulatory developments by subscribing to Trading Standards Business News.
If you cannot find the guidance or information you need, then we can offer bespoke Business Advice & Support at rates that are on a cost recovery basis, making us an affordable option. Please note that Trading Standards only offers bespoke advice on regulatory matters and NOT on contractual matters between you and your customers. If you want to take advantage of up to two hours of free advice on either regulatory or contractual matters then you may want to join our Trading Standards Accredited Scheme.

Local businesses now have the opportunity to enter into a Primary Authority Partnership with the Council.
Primary Authority enables businesses to form a statutory partnership with a single local authority, which then provides reliable advice and coordinates inspections and enforcement.
